Okay… so today’s topic might feel a bit out of left-field for some of you, but I thought that it would be fun! Who doesn’t wanna shake things up once-in-awhile, right?

When you’re an entrepreneur, your brain is constantly on overdrive. You’re always thinking or worrying about something, and a VERY important aspect of running a business is knowing when to stop and decompress for the day.

So, I wanted to write a blog for my fellow video-game fans, and also for folks who might be interested in trying some games out for the first time.

Today we’re talking about my FAVORITE videogames to help me destress and relax when my workday is done and my kid is happily tucked in to bed.

All of the games I’m going to talk about are very easy to play, and mostly just involve pointing and clicking… and boy is it satisfying!

So let’s look at my list of 6 relaxing video games for entrepreneurs! All but one of these games I’ve played personally, so I can assure you that they’re perfect for slowing down while still having fun! In all honesty, a lot of the games even tick the “productivity” box, which I know many of us enjoy feeling.

So let’s go….

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is an incredibly in-depth farming simulator developed entirely by ONE DUDE! While Stardew Valley is very easy to get the hang of, there’s so much to do and accomplish. Watching your farm grow day by day is so satisfying, and it’s easy to get lost for hours (so beware lol).

I really, really love this game. It’s available on a Computer, Nintendo Switch, PS4, XBox ONE, iOS, and Android, so it’s accessible to practically everyone! Personally, I’ve only played it on PC.

Stardew Valley is also Multiplayer, so it’s EVEN MORE FUN to go about your tasks and quests with a friend! Love, love, love, love this game, cannot recommend it enough no matter whether you like videogames or not!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This is the one game on this list that I HAVEN’T personally played. However, I’ve played other Animal Crossing games, and I’ve heard and seen nothing but wonderful things about Animal Crossings: New Horizons, so I feel very comfortable including it on the list. Part of me nearly invested in a Nintendo Switch, but I just can’t bring myself to do it lol.

(fun fact: I was recently on YouTube and saw someone had recreated HAMILTON entirely in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!)

Animal Crossing is all about creating a little character who travels to an island, meets new friends, develops their island, performs relaxing quests, and so much more. You can invite your real-life friends (as long as they have the game/a Nintendo Switch) to visit your island, too!

AC:NH is only available on Nintendo Switch, though.

Average Rating (from my internet search): 9/10

Littlewood

Littlewood is one of many games that have tried to mimic the Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon style of gameplay, and thus far it’s one that I’ve found the most enjoyment in so far (aside from Stardew, of course).

(I couldn’t find a gif so I just took a screenshot from my own game lol)

It’s more simplified, but that’s not a bad thing, because it’s intuitive, and you get great satisfaction building up your little town and uncovering the mystery of your lost memories. Definitely perfect for someone just looking to play an easy game with cute visuals and characters.

Parkasaurus

So I tried playing a lot of games like SimCity, Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Planet Zoo, but possibly due to my own ineptitude, I found those games to be frustrating and I usually quit not long after giving it a try.

But Parkasaurus was like the answer to my prayers. Very easy, very simple, and honestly pretty quick to “beat”. You’re a cute-fied version of Jurassic Park, where guests come to visit your dinosaurs that you care for. You feed them, ensure their environments are to their satisfaction/needs, and that guests have a great time/ spend $$ at your park.

As I said, it’s very quick, and not super deep… but as far as a cute little game to help you relax and smile, it’s awesome.

Throne Of Lies

Throne of Lies is a multiplayer game similar (but around longer than) the game Among Us (which is a phenomenon that you’ve probably heard of at this point whether you’re into games or not). All players are randomly given identities, some of which are villains/assassins. Each “night” each player performs actions, and corresponding events will occur. Sometimes nothing happens, other times fellow players are straight-up murdered, lol.

(reinstalled this game to take another screenshot lol)

The following day, all players join together in an attempt to identify the villains; and the villains do whatever they can to stay undercover/deflect.

It’s a very funny game, especially with friends, and each “match/round” is super quick so you can fit it into your schedule with no problem if you need a moment or two to escape the real world!

Viscera CleanUp Detail

This is another game you can play alone, or with friends… but if you’re someone with a dark sense of humor who loves satisfying cleaning games/videos, Viscera Cleanup Detail is the perfect game for you.

You (and your friends if you play multiplayer) are sent out on cleaning missions usually involving absurd, cartoon-ified scenes of violence. It’s your job to clean it all up like it never happened. I wouldn’t say it’s a game for the hyper-sensitive, but I wouldn’t call it “gory or disturbing”, either. It’s entirely meant to be funny and relaxing.

… There just happens to be body parts and blood splattered all over the place lol (there’s even a “Christmas” DLC which is very VERY funny).

It’s a great game to play with friends because you can just chat about whatever while enjoying the satisfaction of cleaning up a vast and beautifully-designed environment!

It’s Okay To Relax

If you’re anything like me, it can be hard not to feel guilty when you take time to relax. We can always tell ourselves that there’s something else that we could/should be doing with our free time.

But free time is critical.

You can’t pour from an empty cup, and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying some time that doesn’t serve any purpose other than to help you chill and replenish. You need that time. You need to relax and set boundaries if you’re going to kick-ass in your professional life.

So I hope that this short list of video games has helped you find some new faves to decompress and have fun! You deserve it.

And hey, if you’re ever playing Stardew Valley on STEAM, comment below because I’d love to play with ya! 😀

Take it easy!
